Call for Applications for the Emergency Support Program to Enhance Disaster Preparedness in Shopping Districts Now Open

In preparation for large-scale natural disasters, such as an earthquake directly beneath the capital, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government provides grants to shopping districts within the metropolitan area to support their efforts to enhance local disaster preparedness, including ensuring the safety of visitors and local residents.
We are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted as outlined below.

Recruitment Overview

1. Eligible Recipients

Shopping districts in Tokyo; federations of shopping districts organized by ward, city, or municipality

2. Eligible Expenses

Expenses for purchasing disaster prevention equipment and supplies
(e.g., generators, solar panels, portable toilets, flashlights, emergency food supplies, etc.)

3. Eligibility Requirements

Must satisfy both (1) and (2) below

  • (1) Conduct at least one initiative to raise disaster preparedness awareness
  • (2) Rules and manuals for responding to disasters
    *May be omitted if already submitted in Reiwa7 and the content has not changed

4. Subsidy Rate and Maximum Amount

5. Application Period

Reiwa 8, June 15 (Monday) – November 30 (Monday)

6. How to Apply

Please submit your application to the Shopping District Promotion Division of your respective ward, city, or town within the application period.

(2) When creating manuals and other materials, you can take advantage of the free expert dispatch service provided by the Shopping District Step-Up Support Program.
