On September 19, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government submitted a draft environmental impact assessment report to the Governor of Tokyo (Environment Bureau) regarding the continuous grade separation project on the East Japan Railway Company Nambu Line (between Yaho Station and Tachikawa Station) in accordance with the Tokyo Metropolitan Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance.
The draft environmental impact assessment report selected seven items for the environmental impact assessment: noise and vibration, shadow, radio interference, scenery, historical sites and cultural assets, places for nature-related activities, and waste, and predicted and evaluated the impact that the project would have on the environment.
Going forward, we will proceed with the environmental impact assessment procedures, including holding explanatory meetings on the draft environmental impact assessment report and preparing opinion letters and environmental impact assessment reports, while also proceeding with urban planning procedures, with the aim of early commercialization.
The “Summary of the Draft Environmental Impact Assessment Report,” “Outline of the Plan,” and “Procedures leading up to the commencement of construction” are attached as an attachment (PDF: 587KB).

Business effects

• 19 railroad crossings, including those on Routes 3, 4, and 8 (Tokyo Route 145 (Tachikawa-Kokubunji Line)), will be removed or abolished, eliminating traffic congestion and railroad crossing accidents caused by blocked railroad crossings.
• The integration of areas previously divided by the railway line and the promotion of urban development around the station in conjunction with this project are expected to revitalize the region.
