Elevating the outbound tracks of the Seibu Shinjuku Line (near Higashimurayama Station)
As part of the Seibu Shinjuku Line, Kokubunji Line, and Seibu-en Line (near Higashimurayama Station) continuous grade separation project being carried out by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Seibu Railway Co., Ltd., construction work will be carried out to switch the Shinjuku Line outbound lanes to an elevated track as detailed below. This is expected to shorten the blocking time at four crossings in this section, including Fuchu-kaido, and ease traffic congestion at these crossings.
Following the recent elevating of the Shinjuku Line’s outbound lines, construction will also proceed with the early elevation of the Kokubunji Line, Seibuen Line, and Shinjuku Line’s inbound lines. Going forward, Tokyo will continue to actively promote the continuous grade separation project, promoting the formation of a road network by simultaneously removing many level crossings, as well as alleviating traffic congestion caused by level crossings and integrating towns divided by railways.
