Registration begins for rental housing insulation and renewable energy cost support

In order to build a carbon-free society, Tokyo is promoting the insulation and use of renewable energy in rental housing, which accounts for approximately 50% of all housing in Tokyo.
METI hereby announces that it will begin accepting registrations of businesses that will provide financial support for energy-saving performance diagnosis and insulation renovations for rental housing, as well as for the use of renewable energy through bulk low-voltage electricity reception.
Business overview
1)Energy-saving performance diagnosis and insulation renovation (existing homes)
For rental housing, subsidies will be provided for the expenses related to the diagnosis, renovation, etc., when performance information based on energy-saving performance diagnosis is displayed in real estate advertisements, etc., and when renovations are carried out to ensure a certain level of insulation performance based on the diagnosis results.
2)Introduction of renewable energy (new and existing homes)
For rental housing, subsidies will be provided for the expenses related to solar power generation equipment and ancillary equipment for low-voltage electricity bulk reception, provided that renewable energy electricity is supplied to each residence through a combination of solar power generation and low-voltage electricity bulk reception.
