Partnership agreement on achieving carbon neutrality

In order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, Tokyo is working to implement energy-saving and hydrogen-related technologies that will contribute to GX within the city.
We are pleased to announce that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. have concluded a partnership agreement with the aim of working together to stabilize energy supply and demand, expand the use of renewable energy, and promote the use of green hydrogen.

1 Overview of the Memorandum

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. have agreed to cooperate and collaborate on the following matters.

(1)Measures to stabilize energy supply and demand
(2)Expanding the use of renewable energy
(3)Utilization of green hydrogen
(4)Promotion of biofuels and synthetic fuels
(5)Other initiatives toward achieving carbon neutrality

Based on this agreement, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo Gas will deepen collaboration and cooperation and further accelerate efforts in various fields, such as stabilizing energy supply and demand, expanding the use of renewable energy, and promoting the use of green hydrogen, with the aim of working together to realize a “decarbonized city” that will serve as a global model.

We believe that by signing this agreement with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and deepening our cooperation, we will further increase the trust of local residents, household and business customers, and government and local governments in our efforts to date, and will provide even stronger support for our future efforts toward a stable energy supply and decarbonization.
Going forward, we will work more closely with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government than ever before to provide a stable supply of gas and electricity to Tokyo residents, with safety and security as our top priority, and contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral society by 2050.
