Immigration and settlement promotion agreement (Tokyo, five municipalities, and private companies)
We would like to announce that Tokyo Metropolitan Government, five cities, towns, and villages, as well as private companies working to promote regional development, have concluded an agreement to promote migration and settlement in the area.
1 Participants in the Agreement
- Tokyo
- Ome City, Akiruno City, Hinode Town, Hinohara Village, Okutama Town
- Ensen Marugoto Co., Ltd. (General member of the “Tama Islands Migration and Settlement Promotion Network”)
2 Purpose of the Agreement
The purpose is to revitalize the entire region, which is experiencing a decline in population, by working together to create a network of people and related populations with a focus on train lines and river basins, promote migration and settlement, improve and promote the region’s appeal, and resolve local issues.
3 Main areas of collaboration
(1)Matters concerning regional revitalization efforts
(2)Matters concerning the creation of exchange and related populations and the promotion of migration and settlement
(3)Matters concerning the dissemination of local information
4 Examples of initiatives planned for implementation
- Widely disseminate information on cases of relocation that effectively utilize vacant houses, and initiatives in which relocations and related populations active in the area work together with local residents.
- In addition to experiencing life and culture, tours will be held to see properties listed in the vacant house bank and examples of good practices in utilizing vacant houses.
About the “Tama Islands Migration and Settlement Promotion Network”
An organization to promote migration, settlement, and exchange in the Tama Islands region through public-private collaboration and participation by various stakeholders, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, municipalities, private companies, and related organizations.
This project is an initiative to promote the “Tokyo 2050 Strategy.”
