Shinkawa Disaster Prevention Wharf on the Sumida River opens to the public

In order to make effective use of disaster prevention boat docks, Tokyo has opened six of them on the Sumida River to the public – Etchujima, Akashicho, Sakurabashi, Ryogoku, Hamacho, and Hakozakicho. Now, in order to further stimulate waterway transportation and ensure smooth use in times of disaster, we will be opening the Shinkawa Disaster Prevention Wharf to the public.

Facilities to be opened

Shinkawa 2-chome, Chuo-ku, Tokyo

Floating pier type (24m long, 6m wide)

Implementation details

1)Date of implementation

Every day from Sunday, June 1, 2025 (excluding New Year’s holidays)

2)Usage time

  • April to October: 10:00am – 5:00pm
  • November to March: 10:00am – 4:00pm

3)Applicable vessels

Powered vessels up to 24m in length and with a draft of up to 2m (excluding personal watercraft)

4)How to use

Reservations required (reservations open at noon on Monday, May 26, 2025)

For non-commercial ships, 2,000 yen/ session or 1,000 yen/ session depending on the length of the ship.
*If you make a reservation online, the above rates will be half price.
